The Ifrane National Park was created in 2004 on an area of 51,800 ha. It extends over the western portion of the Central Middle Atlas, on the territories of the provinces of Ifrane and Boulmane. It is distinguished by its biological and ecological values, its forest wealth and the exceptional beauty of its landscapes.

The park site is a real water tower. The permanent natural lakes Dayet Aoua and Aguelmam Afennourir, the springs, the rivers, constitute its major landscape entities. In Morocco, it is considered to be the forest area par excellence, marked by the presence of the Atlas Cedar, an emblematic species of this protected area.
The Ifrane National Park contains a great wealth of animals: 37 species of mammals including large populations of macaques, 140 species of birds including some rare or endangered birds of prey and around thirty species of amphibians and reptiles. Migratory bird species make Lake Afennourir, a wetland classified as a Ramsar site, an important stopover in their migration.
At the level of this park, the cultural heritage merges with the natural heritage, which gives the site great ecotourism potential. Likewise, the snow and winter sports facilities in Michlifen are additional assets attracting many tourists in winter. Thus, this protected area is attractive during all four seasons.
