17 Jun 2025Morocco, like the rest of North Africa, is facing increasing water scarcity, soil degradation, and biodiversity loss. In this vulnerable context, agroecology emerges as a systemic approach capable of combining agricultural productivity, climate resilience, and the preservation of natural resources.
The Moroccan Network of Agroecological Initiatives (RIAM), committed since 2013 to promoting Nature-based Solutions (NbS), is organizing a National Meeting on Agroecology in partnership with the Mediterranean Multi-Actor Network on AgroEcology (MEDAE). This event is part of the NATAE project – Fostering Agroecology Transition in North Africa, led by CIHEAM Montpellier and funded by the European Union.
The objectives of the meeting are to:
- Raise public awareness of the foundations of agroecology as a Nature-based Solution to national agricultural challenges.
- Highlight good practices and recent scientific advancements in agroecology.
- Foster cooperation among stakeholders to strengthen the resilience and sustainability of agri-food systems.
- Contribute to the discussion on integrating agroecology into public strategies and programs.
